ISU Hosts Gymnastics Quad Meet Friday Night At Horton Field House

NORMAL, Ill. – It will be a festive atmosphere inside historic Horton Field House on Friday night, as the Illinois State gymnastics team returns home to host a quad meet at 7 p.m. that will feature the Redbirds, Bowling Green, Centenary and Central Michigan.

SETTING THE SCENE
The meet will be the third of four at home for the Redbirds this season and the second at Horton Field House. Admission is free for the quad meet, but fans who cannot make it to the meet can follow live stats via Virtius or watch the meet LIVE on the Illinois State Athletics official YouTube page. "The team has been looking great this week in workouts. We are looking forward to another home meet, especially with it being a quad meet which are always very exciting for fans to watch.  We hope to see everyone come out to support this very talented team and watch some great gymnastics inside Horton Field House on Friday night."

SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE
•    Illinois State sits at No. 38 in the latest Road To National rankings, thanks to Top 25 event ranks on floor and vault.
•    It was a big competition last Saturday at Huff Hall in Champaign for Illinois State, as the Redbirds matched up against a pair of Big Ten Conference foes in Illinois and Washington and stayed close for most of the meet, before ultimately coming in third place with a 194.775 behind the Illini and the Huskies last Saturday.
•    The Redbirds took the top three spots on the vault, with senior Mya Robinson finishing in first place with a score of 9.875. She was followed in second place by Jaye Mack with a 9.850 and Alana Laster with a 9.825.
•    For her efforts in the meet, Robinson was named the MIC Co-Gymnast of the Week and won the Performance of the Week.

SCOUTING BOWLING GREEN
•    Bowling Green sits at No. 62 in the latest Road To National rankings, powered by a No. 53 event ranking on vault.
•    Megan Bingham won the all-around and Kayla Shaw won the floor, but it wasn't enough as Temple came out victorious over Bowling Green gymnastics last Friday evening, 195.125-191.575, inside McGonigle Hall.
•    The floor win (9.885) for Shaw was her first career event win. Bingham won her fifth collegiate event with the all-around win (38.775), and it was her second all-around win this season. Bingham also placed second on beam with a 9.775.
•    Following BGSU's appearance in Normal, the Falcons return home two days later for a tri-meet with Kent State and Wilberforce at the Stroh Center at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING CENTENARY
•    Centenary sits at No. 84 in the latest Road To National rankings.
•    The Ladies recorded a season-high 189.00 last Saturday evening as they finished second to fellow MIC member TWU in a dual meet inside the Gold Dome.
•    Junior Claire Flores was this week's recipient of the MIC Coaches' Choice Award, as she scored a season and career-high 9.775 on bars at home against TWU to earn a tie for second place. Flores helped the Ladies record a season-best 47.800 on bars as they posted a season-high team score of 189.00.
•    Centenary has two more meets remaining, one a home meet against Fisk and the final at Minnesota on March 15 before hosting the MIC Championships on March 21.

SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN
•    Central Michigan sits at No. 36 in the latest Road To National rankings, powered by a No. 31 event ranking on bars.
•    The Chippewas were handed their first Mid-American Conference loss of the 2025 season last Sunday in a nail-biting dual with a league-leading Kent State, 195.350-195.300, at the Golden Flashes' Memorial and Athletic Convocation Center.
•    CMU tallied six total scores of 9.850 or above and won three of four events against the Golden Flashes.
•    Senior Avah Bootz emerged with Central Michigan's leading score of the meet, having placed second on vault with a career-high 9.875, which is a season-high for the Chippewas.
