ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State sophomore forward Chase Walker has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances against Belmont and Valparaiso over the previous seven days.
Walker averaged 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game in a pair of ISU wins, while making 18-of-23 shots from the field (78.3%). He had a 10-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio on the week, the seventh-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the NCAA for the week. His field goal percentage was also the 14th-best in the country over the seven-day span.
The Redbirds picked up an 81-78 win over Belmont to start the week, as Walker had 22 points, six rebounds and an assist, making nine of his 12 shots from the field, before coming back with 24 points on Saturday against Valparaiso, converting on 9-of-11 shots, while dishing out a career-high seven assists with four rebounds.
ISU is back in action on Wednesday evening in a 7 p.m. tip-off against the UIC Flames in Chicago.
