EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois State baseball team defeated the SIUE Cougars, 9-3, on the road Wednesday evening. The Redbirds scored seven runs across the 1st and 2nd innings to get ahead early.
The win moves Illinois State to 10-13 in 2025 while SIUE drops to 10-13 overall.

Scoring Breakdown:
- Shai Robinson tripled home Kyle Gibson in the top of the 1st to break open the scoring before Daniel Pacella added a sac fly as ILS led 2-0 after an inning.
- The Redbirds saw Josh Outlaw send out his first home run as a Redbird in the top of the 2nd to expand the lead to 4-0.
- Judah Morris tallied RBIs no. 27 and 28 with an RBI double in the 2nd to make it 6-0.
- ILS padded their lead with an RBI groundout by Brayden Bakes and RBI single from Kyle Gibson as the Birds led 8-0 after three innings
- The lead grew to 9-0 in the 4th with an RBI single by Outlaw, his third RBI of the game
- SIUE got on the board in the bottom of the 7th with a pair of runs following an ILS error
- The Cougars added one in the 9th with a solo home run
