EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team (6-5) dropped a non-conference match to SIUE (10-2) of the Ohio Valley Conference by a final score of 4-2 on Friday inside Edwardsville Y Meyer Center.
In doubles play, the No. 1 pair, juniors Silvia Pomarolli (Cecina, Italy) and Lana Caculovic (Dugo Selo, Croatia) defeated Amelia Gorman/Cydney Rogers of SIUE by a score of 6-4. At No. 3, freshman Nicole Iosio (Cordenons, Italy) and junior Nuria Sanz (Valencia, Spain) cruised past Paige Duncan/Chloe Koons, 6-4.
As play shifted to singles competition, Caculovic picked up a win against Margaux Britt Guibal of the Cougars by scores of 6-0, 7-6 at the No. 2 position.
