Tyrelle Chadwick Drafted By Colorado Rockies In MLB Draft

Denver, Colo. – Redbird pitcher Tyrelle Chadwick was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 18th round and 527th overall. Chadwick joins Shai Robinson as the second Redbird drafted in the 2025 MLB Draft. 

Chadwick becomes the 14th player selected in the MLB Draft under sixth-year head coach Steve Holm. Chadwick also joins Joe Aeilts as the second Redbird under Holm to be drafted by the Colorado Rockies. 

Tyrelle joins his father, Ray, in becoming a MLB draft pick. Ray was selected in the 16th round of the 1983 MLB June Amateur Draft by the California Angels and debuted at the major league level in 1986. 

In 2025, Chadwick earned All-MVC Second Team honors after making 12 starts in 14 appearances for the Redbirds. Chadwick pitched a team-high 77.1 innings in his junior campaign including one complete game. On March 18th, Chadwick was selected as the MVC Pitcher of the Week after tossing six scoreless innings against Western Illinois.
