NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer drew level at 0-0 with Eastern Illinois Thursday evening at Adelaide Street Field.
Thursday's draw marks the first-ever tie in the contest in all 17 meetings between the two programs. Illinois State maintains an 11-5-1 advantage in the series despite the draw.
The Redbirds pressed early as Freshman Rylann Law drew a save from the Panther goalkeeper in the fifth minute of the game. Illinois State would maintain its pressure in the Eastern Illinois third, outshooting the Panthers 6-1 in the opening half. Despite the Redbirds' shot advantage, the contest remained level at 0-0 entering the break.
Illinois State would continue to outpace Eastern Illinois in total shots as it would outshoot the Panthers 10-2 in the second half. The Redbirds would have three shots in the second half, hit the woodwork of the goal, but were unable to find a winning goal in the end.
With 16 shots in the contest, the Redbirds have recorded at least 16 or more shots in four of the last five games. Illinois State has also recorded 83 shots across the last five games, which is the most in a five-game stretch since the 2020-21 season.
The Redbirds' 13-shot advantage is the second-largest differential of the season and is tied for the second-most under head coach Raleigh DeRose.
