ST. LOUIS – Illinois State sophomore forward Doneelah Washington continues to dominate on the floor for the Redbirds and for her efforts, she has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Washington continues to do it all for the Redbirds and put together another strong week where she nearly averaged a double-double on the road against UIC and Indiana State. Last week, Washington averaged 23.5 points per contest and 8.5 rebounds per game while playing nearly 30 minutes per contest.Â
On Thursday at UIC, she posted 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Lincoln, Nebraska, native followed that up with a career day in a win at Indiana State on Sunday, where she scored a career-best 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Redbirds to their fourth win in the last five contests. Washington has now scored 20 or more points in five of her last seven games played and in MVC contests, she is averaging 22.1 points and 9.0 boards per game.
The Redbirds return home this week for a pair of games at CEFCU Arena. ISU will take on UNI on Thursday at 6 p.m., before hosting its annual Play4Kay game on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Bradley.
