NORMAL, Ill. – It was another strong week of performances for the Illinois State gymnasts, and the standout duo of Mia LeBlanc and Savannah Ray were recognized with Midwest Independent Conference weekly honors on Wednesday for their efforts last weekend at Ball State. LeBlanc took home MIC Newcomer of the Week honors for the second-straight week, while Ray earned MIC Performance of the Week honors.
LeBlanc had another strong outing for the Redbirds, competing in three events in their tri-meet at Ball State. LeBlanc posted her best score of the night on bars of 9.725, as the Redbirds set a team season high on the event. She also added scores of 9.575 on vault and 9.650 on floor to round out another solid meet for ISU.
Ray continued her strong season with a solid outing on Sunday at Ball State as well. Ray picked up an event win with a tie for first on vault with a career-high score of 9.850 and then followed that up with a strong score on vault to finish 12th overall. She also competed on beam as well, to round out a strong effort for the Redbirds. Her score of 9.850 is the highest for a Redbird gymnast this season on vault and ties for the highest score of the season on any event.
Illinois State returns home this week to host MIC rival Southeast Missouri State for a Valentine's Day meet at CEFCU Arena. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 14, and the meet will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with live stats available via Virtius.Â
