ST. LOUIS – Illinois State senior TJ Barger has earned his third Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the third time during the 2025-26 season and the eighth of his ISU career, tied for the 14th-most in a career in MVC history and fourth-most in Illinois State history.
Barger tied for fourth over the last week at the 2026 Border Olympics, hosted by the University of Houston, and he was at or under par in all three rounds, with tournament scores of 70, 69, and 71 for a 210.
Through six tournaments this season, Barger has five top 10 finishes, as 14 of his 18 rounds have scores at or under par. He has top five finishes in half of his events this season, and he has a scoring average of 70.1, on pace to be the lowest season scoring average in program history.
The only golfers in program history with more Golfer of the Week honors than his eight are David Perkins (15), Trent Wallace (10), and Matt Miller (nine).
ISU is back in action on Sunday, February 22 when the squad travels to Puerto Rico to compete in the three-day Dorado Beach Collegiate, hosted at TPC Dorado Beach.
