NORMAL, Ill. – Coming off strong performances last weekend at the quad meet hosted by Southeast Missouri State, Redbird gymnastics Mia LeBlanc and Mia Oh were recognized with Midwest Independent Conference weekly honors on Wednesday. LeBlanc took home MIC Newcomer of the Week honors, while Oh was selected as this week's MIC Coaches' Choice Award winner.
LeBlanc did it all for the Redbirds in their quad meet at SEMO, as the Redbirds posted a season-high team score of 194.025. LeBlanc recorded three season-best scores and posted a pair of Top 10 finishes during the meet, with her score of 9.750 on floor tying a career-best to finish in a tie for 9th. She also posted a Top 10 performance on bars with a 9.725 to tie for ninth as well. She also posted a Top 20 finish in 17th place with a career-best 9.700 on vault to round out a strong effort.
Oh was selected for Coaches Choice Award, which is awarded weekly to student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional leadership, team spirit, and performance. Selected by conference head coaches, the award highlights athletes who overcome adversity or contribute significantly to their team's culture. Last week, Oh put together a pair of strong performances for the Redbirds on vault (9.750) and on floor (9.700).
Illinois State returns to competition on Sunday, February 8, and will face off against Ball State in Muncie, Indiana, in a tri-meet with Kent State. The meet is scheduled to begin at Noon CT at Worthen Arena.Â
