ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri Valley Conference has announced its fourth selection of weekly awards on Tuesday morning, per the league office. Junior Graham Mastros was named this week's Player of the Week.
Mastros' selection marks his second of this season after being named Player of the Week on February 17 earlier this year. The Redbirds have had a player nominated for the award in back-to-back weeks and the third time overall this season.
Across this week, Mastros impressed with a combined 9-for-15 performance in all four contests for Illinois State. In the Redbirds 7-2 victory over Eastern Kentucky on March 6, Mastros recorded his third three extra-base hit game of the campaign with two doubles and a home run.
With five home runs through the first 15 contests, Mastros matched a career-best for a single season and sits in a three-way tie alongside teammate Redshirt Sophomore Brayden Bakes for the most in the MVC. Mastros also leads the Valley in extra-base hits (11), RBIs (17), and slugging percentage (.750).
