NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State track & field hosted day one of the Joyce Morton-Kief Invite at the Redbird Track & Field Complex on Friday afternoon. The meet kicked off in the field as athletes competed in the hammer throw.
Redbird junior Adi Scott highlighted the opening event with a win in the women's hammer throw, posting a mark of 50.67m in her first meet back after redshirting the indoor season.
Sophomore Morgan Foes was the next highest-finishing Redbird, taking sixth with a personal best throw of 47.54m. Sophomore Brianna Brodie followed in ninth with a personal-record throw of 45.79m, and freshman Hannah Gibson rounded out the top 10 with a personal-best mark of 45.34m.
On the men's side, two Redbirds finished in the top three. Junior Isaias Lopez finished runner-up with a personal-record throw of 57.03 m, while junior Cole Stevens earned bronze with a mark of 56.81m.
The Redbird women lead the team race with 13 points, while the men sit in second with 14 points.

The Redbirds will host day two of the Joyce-Morton Kief Invitational tomorrow, with field events beginning at 10 a.m. CT and track events slated for noon CT. Illinois State seniors will be recognized at 11:30 a.m. CT.
