ST. LOUIS – Illinois State junior Chase Walker was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team, announced by the Conference office on Wednesday morning.
It is Walker's second career First Team All-Conference honor, and he earns the 18th such honor in program history, and he is just the fourth player in program history to have been named First Team All-MVC twice in their careers, joining Osiris Eldridge, Tarise Bryson, and Rico Hill.
Walker is averaging 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season, making 53.7 percent of his shots from the field (132-of-246), and 73 percent (96-of-131) from the charity stripe. He has 20 games in which he scored in double-digits, including a season-high 22 points on January 1 against Evansville.
He was twice named MVC Player of the Week during the season, and over his three-year career, Walker scored 953 points, and his .560 career field goal percentage is fifth-best in program history.
The Redbirds, 20-11 on the season, enter the MVC Tournament as the third seed, and will open play on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. against either Northern Iowa or Evansville.
