NORMAL, Ill. – A win over an FBS foe and a 3-0 start to the season have kept the Illinois State Football team in the Top 5 of both national FCS Top 25 polls. The Redbirds remained in the No. 4 spot in AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and came in at No. 5 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.
Illinois State has now appeared in every Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll for 34-straight weeks, the sixth-longest active streak in the FCS.
The Redbirds are among six teams from the Missouri Valley Football Conference in both polls, with South Dakota State, Illinois State, North Dakota and Youngstown State all being ranked in the Top 10 in both polls. South Dakota is ranked in the Top 10 in the Stats Perform Top 25 poll as well.
No. 4 Illinois State (3-0) returns home this Saturday to host Eastern Illinois (1-2) in the 114th meeting of the Mid-America Classic. Kickoff on Family Weekend is set for 2 p.m. CT on Jay and Lori Bergman Field at Hancock Stadium.
