Dr. LaNiece Brown joined Illinois State as an Associate Athletic Trainer in August of 2025. She currently works with Women’s Basketball and Women’s Golf.
Before joining ISU, Dr. Brown served as an Associate Athletic Trainer at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) for 3 years where she covered Women’s Basketball, Women’s Tennis, and Men’s Golf. She also served as a mentor and preceptor to aspiring student athletic trainers, guiding their clinical development through hands-on instruction, professional modeling, and evidence-based practice, helping them build confidence and competence as they enter the profession.

Dr. Brown is dedicated to elevating athletic training through evidence-based practice and hands-on clinical experience. She earned her Master of Athletic Training from Rowan University in 2022, working across multiple collegiate sports and New Jersey high schools, and strengthened her performance background with a 2020 internship with the New York Jets.

She completed her Doctor of Athletic Training at Temple University in 2025. Her research includes published work on blood flow restriction and electrical stimulation for delayed onset muscle soreness, along with studies exploring hormonal contraception, ligamentous knee injuries in female athletes, and workplace bullying in the healthcare profession.
