Redbirds Finish Fall Season in Seventh

Samantha Richdales fifth place finish helped lead the Illinois State womens golf team to a seventh place finish at the Lady Razorback Invitational. The Redbirds carded a three-round total of 927 (305,314,308). Samantha Richdale led the Birds in scoring with a three-round total of 224 (75,73,76), leaving her in a tie for fifth place. Following Richdale are teammates Ashlie Rose who tied for 22nd with a 233 (78,80,75), Katie Laehn tied for 35th with a 237 (78,83,76) and Ashlee Johnson who shoot a 241 (82,78,81) tied for 58th. Rounding out the line-up for the Birds was Kaila Fuller who tied for 61st with a three-round total of 242 (74,85,83). Head coach Ray Kralis saw a number of positives in todays final round. We had some great individual performances and we hung in with some of the toughest teams in the nation, said Kralis. Overall in a 19-team field we beat some teams we needed to beat, and came out and completed with these teams. Iowa State won the tournament with a three-round total of 905, finishing second was Texas A&M with a 916 and third was Arkansas with a 920. In fourth was Missouri with a total of 921, Norte Dame came in fifth with a 922 and Michigan was sixth with a 923. Behind ISU was Nebraska with a 935, in ninth was Kansas with a 938 and Wisconsin finished 10th with a 948. Behind 10th place was Alabama, Iowa, Western Michigan, Mississippi, UTEP, Oral Roberts, Augusta State, Southern Mississippi and Southwest Missouri State. Kralis is overall pleased with the Redbirds fall season. Overall we had a good season, with our schedule we played some great teams and we were able to compete with some of those teams, added Kralis. We have some work to do and a lot to build on for the spring season, with the returning squad, Im looking forward and even better spring season. The Redbirds will be back to action in the spring, at the Mo Morial Invitational Feb. 28 through Mar. 1. ###
