Redbirds Climb at Boilermaker Spring Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Behind a one-over-par effort from Reagan Kennedy, the Illinois State women's golf team climbed to 12th at the completion of the Boilermaker Spring Classic, the final pre-MVC Championship event for the Redbirds.

ISU's third-round 307 gave them a three-round score of 927, as the Birds pushed ahead of MVC foe Bradley, and finished just outside of 10th place. Illinois won the event with an 870, while tournament host Purdue (873), USF (891), Princeton (897), and Minnesota (900) rounded out the top five. Cincinnati (906), Wisconsin (912), Denver (915), South Dakota State (915), Chattanooga (923), and Findlay (923) all finished just ahead of ISU's 927. Northern Illinois (932), Bradley (934), Butler (936), and Purdue Fort Wayne (952) all closed the tournament chasing the Redbirds.

Leading the way in the final round for the Redbirds was Reagan Kennedy, who carded a 73, pushing her up 19 places in the individual standings into a tie of 26th, as she ended the tournament with a three-round 227. Her four birdies in the final round were her largest total of any of the rounds during the tournament as she had eight total birdies in the tournament.

Elise Fennell was ISU's top overall finisher in the event, as her final-round 75 pushed her to a 223 54-hole score, tied for the 16th-best individual score in the tournament field. She had nine birdies in the tournament, including two in the final round, while her par-three scoring average (2.92) was tied for the third-best in the tournament field.

Alex Sparrow – who had the eighth-most pars in the tournament with 36 – closed her three-round event with a 76, closing with a 234, tied for 56th in the tournament, as she had the Redbirds' only eagle of the two-day event. Dani Grace Schrock tied for 85th with rounds of 83, 77, and 83, with five birdies on the weekend. Reagan Braker placed 94th for ISU with rounds of 88, 86, and 83.

ISU takes back to the course on Sunday morning, in the first of three rounds at the 2026 MVC Championship, hosted at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
