St-Pierre Named Sports Network Honorable Mention All-American

PHILADELPHIA - Illinois State senior center Jonathan St-Pierre (Longueuil, Quebec, Canada/Edouard-Montpetit HS) earned Sports Network Honorable Mention All-America honors Tuesday. St-Pierre was the only Redbird football player represented on one of the Sports Network's four NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Teams.

St-Pierre also earned his first-ever All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection following the 2008 season after being named to the league's all-newcomer team in 2006. He started all 11 games for Illinois State and anchored an offensive line that allowed ISU's running game to amass 2,169 rushing yards on the season, the 10th-highest total in school history.

St-Pierre was part of an Illinois State offense that averaged 369.4 yards of total offense per game and 197.2 rushing yards per game. The Longueuil, Quebec, Canada, native posted a final percentage grade of 91.4 percent and played 711 snaps on the season, with just three missed assignments. He recorded a team-high 108 knockdowns, while not allowing a single quarterback sack all season.

St-Pierre started 31-straight games for Illinois State after transferring from Miami (Fla.) after the 2005 season.

Prior to the start of the 2008 season, St-Pierre earned a preseason All-America honor when he was named to the 2008 College Sporting News Preseason All-America Third Team.

The Missouri Valley Football Conference had a total of 10 players selected to one of four Sports Network All-America Teams.
