NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State football team has won two-straight games heading into a big in-state matchup Saturday against Western Illinois on Family Day at Hancock Stadium. Head coach Brock Spack will preview this weekend's game with the Leathernecks and break down last Saturday's 24-14 road win at Missouri State when he holds his weekly press luncheon Tuesday at noon at the Kaufman Football Building.
Redbird seniors Bert Whigham and Eyad Salem will also take part in the press conference and will offer their thoughts on the upcoming showdown with WIU. Whigham is coming off one of the best games of his career, after recording a career-high two sacks and five tackles in the win at Missouri State. Salem continued to be one of the most consistent players for the Redbird offense, as he hauled in six more catches against the Bears to up his season total to 67 which stands as the third-highest single-season mark in school history. In addition, his 8.38 catches per game currently rank third in the country and his 85.75 yards per game rank 17th overall in FCS play.
