NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State football team, under the direction of first-year head coach Brock Spack, has been working hard for nearly two weeks during fall camp to get ready for the 2009 season. All the hard work will culminate when the Redbirds host their annual Passages Scrimmage in conjunction with the Redbird Fan Fair, which will take place Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at "The Plaza," located in between Redbird Arena and Horton Field House.
The Redbird football team will hit the turf at Hancock Stadium at 7 p.m. for their final scrimmage of the fall, which is free to the public. The final workout officially wraps up fall training camp and the Redbirds will return to their normal practice schedule before opening the season Sept. 3 against Eastern Illinois at O'Brien Stadium in Charleston, Ill. The day officially begins with the ISU volleyball scrimmage at 3 p.m. at Redbird Arena. Following the completion of the scrimmage in the arena, the focus will move to Redbird Fan Fair, where student-athletes and coaches from Illinois State's 19 varsity sports teams will be on hand at the event to assist with various fair games. They will interact with the fans and sign autographs on a limited basis.
Food, games and live music by Party Freak, Chicagoland's premier party band, will also be available. Additional activities include free face painting by The Zoo Lady, inflatable games provided by Fun on the Run, Illinois State merchandise sold by the Alamo II and a live remote by WJBC-AM 1230.
