The Illinois State track and field teams completed their regular seasons at the EIU Friday Night Special at the Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse in the team's final meet before the conference championships next weekend.
On the women's side, Alia McAfee and Sade Sealy led the sprinters during the invitational, as the duo each recorded two top-three finishes. McAfee ran to a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 25.52, while Sealy followed in third with a time of 25.56. Sealy won the 400-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 56.92, while McAfee took second in 57.31.
Shanelle Williams ended the 60-meter hurdles in third place with a time of 8.96, while Laila Jason finished fifth in the event crossing the finish line in 9.14. In the 800-meter run, Kristen Zillmer finished second with a mark of 2:18.09, while fellow freshman Geena Loesch ran to a third-place finish in 2:19.75. Jess Husted completed the mile in 4:58.58 placing second and was followed by Zillmer in third place, who ended the race with a time of 4:59.95. Oliva Myers (10:20.09) and Kirsten Lang (10:52.46) finished the 3,000-meter run in fourth and ninth places, respectively.
In the field events, Amanda Albrecht (5-06.00), Becky Anderson (5-06.00) and Caitlin Roberts (5-02.25) dominated the high jump, as they finished in first through third places, respectively. Hilary Hobler (17-06.00), Lita Wynne (17-02.00) and Mollie Sloyan (16-08.50) picked up where the high jumpers left off, as the trio took second through fourth places, respectively, in the long jump. Rachelle Harbert finished fourth in the pole vault after clearing 12-02.00.
Brittany Smith recorded a throw of 53-02.25 in the shot put for a second place finish and took sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 60-10.50. Tori Ziegler was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 46-11.00 before taking eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 58-01.25.
On the men's side, Lechein Neblett (8.41) and Josh Pope (8.44) ended the 60-meter hurdles in seventh and ninth places, respectively. Steven Regan won the 800-meter run after completing the race in 1:56.01, while Erik Stanton (2:02.41) ran to a ninth place finish. Jon Roberts took second place in the mile run with a time of 4:19.31 followed by Stanton (4:23.94) in fourth place.
In the field events, Drew Holl cleared 6-08.00 in the high jump for a second-place finish. Ben Pratt recorded a mark of 20-10.50 in the long jump for eighth place, while Tyler Knight finished second in the triple jump with a jump of 46-09.50. In the shot put, Curt Jensen (55-09.00), Chris McIntyre (53-07.50), Anthony Wirth (51-01.00) and Colin Fane (50-02.50) dominated the field, as they grabbed four of the top-five places. Akil Mills finished the weight throw in second place with a mark of 62-10.50.
The Redbirds return to action Saturday, Feb. 26, at the 2011 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Northern Iowa.
