SOUTH BEND, Ind. -
Selected members of the Illinois State track and field teams wrapped up competition at the 24th-annual Meyo Invitational Saturday at the Loftus Center in South Bend, Ind., where three Redbirds competed in seeded events.
In the seeded events, Sade Sealy finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 56.50. For the men, Fabian Norgrove took sixth in the 400-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 48.22, while Mat Smoody was 14th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.81.
On the women's side, Aisha Praught won the unseeded mile with a time of 4:53.14. Jil Kerkman finished 15th in the unseeded 800-meter run with a mark of 2:15.17, while Breanna Staples (2:17.45) was 33rd followed by Jess Husted (2:18.06) in 35th place.
Elsewhere on the track, Alia McAfee (56.97) finished 20th in the unseeded 400-meter dash and took 12th in the unseeded 200-meter dash with a mark of 25.46. Tia Harvey (25.75) also competed in the unseeded 200-meter dash and finished the race in 24th place.
Over on the men's side, Kayode Adegoke took second in the unseeded 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 22.07, while Coty Kramer (22.53) and Ben Sparkman (22.67) finished in 16th and 20th places, respectively. Like Adegoke, Nick Geyer also grabbed a top-10 finish in the unseeded 800-meter run, as he ran to a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:53.87.
Alex Roark finished the unseeded 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 50.20 placing 24th. Jon Roberts finished 24th in the unseeded mile run with a mark of 4:19.44, while John Navarro finished the event in 27th place after crossing the finish line in 4:20.04.
The Redbirds will be back in action Feb. 11-12, as they travel to Ames, Iowa, to compete in the Iowa State Classic.
