ISU Track and Field Completes Weekend at Mt. SAC Relays, Beach Invite

WALNUT, Calif. - After competing at two separate track and field meets against top competition Saturday, members of the Illinois State track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational.

On the final day of competition at the Mt. SAC Relays, Brittany Smith finished 11th in the invitational section of the shot put with a throw of 48-06.75.

At the Beach Invitational, Sade Sealy ran to a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.03, while Alia McAfee (57.25) finished the race in a three-way tie for 17th place. Later in the meet, Sealy was 16th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.91. Jess Husted (2:14.71), Jil Kerkman (2:15.53) and Kristen Zillmer (2:15.72) ran to 19th, 24th and 27th places, respectively, in the 800-meter run.

In the field events, Leigh Petranoff was second in the javelin after recording a throw of 160-04, while Tori Ziegler finished seventh in the shot put (46-03.25) and 31st in the discus (139-06). Amanda Albrecht cleared 5-07.75 in the high jump for fifth place.

On the men's side, Kayode Adegoke completed the 100-meter dash in 10.88 for 23rd place and the 200-meter dash in 21.60 for 17th. Fabian Norgrove was 13th in the 400-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 48.27, as Mat Smoody finished the 1500-meter run in 4:01.16.

Competing in the field events, Tim Glover bested the competition in the javelin with a heave of 247-07. With a throw of 42-10.25 in the shot put, Curt Jensen finished the event in 43rd place. Drew Holl finished in a seven-way tie for eighth place with a leap of 6-05.05 in the high jump.

ISU will compete next at the Lenny Lyles Invitational Friday, April 22, in Louisville, Ky.
