NORMAL, Ill. - With the start of a new football season comes the start of The Brock Spack Show, which will be held live each Thursday throughout the 2012 Illinois State season from 6-7 p.m., at Schooners in Bloomington, Ill.
Illinois State football head coach Brock Spack will preview the team's season-opening game Saturday against Pioneer Football League opponent Dayton at Hancock Stadium and talk about his team's preparation in the offseason to prepare for a tough 2012 schedule.
The Redbirds head into the game ranked No. 19 by The Sports Network in its preseason FCS Top 25 poll, after finishing the 2011 season with a 7-4 overall record and just missing the playoffs. They will face off for the first time in school history against the Flyers, who were 6-5 last season, but return 13 starters and 41 letterwinners and were picked fourth in the Pioneer Football League in the 2012 preseason poll.
Co-hosts Dick Luedke and Ted Schmitz will interact with coach Spack during the hour-long show and will also welcome running back Darrelynn Dunn to the show to get his thoughts on the game against the Flyers. A native of Bloomington, Ill., and a Bloomington High School product, Dunn appeared in 10 games as a backup running back for the Redbirds in 2011 and carried the ball 46 times for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He heads into his senior season as the starter for the Redbirds in the backfield.
Schooners is located at 810 East Grove Street in Bloomington, and sits just off the corner of Grove and Clinton Streets. For those who can't make it out to Schooners to watch the show live, it will be broadcast on WJBC AM-1230 and 93.7 FM in the Twin Cities and on GoRedbirds.com.
