CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis teams concluded the fall season at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Friday.
"We played competitive matches today," said head coach Maja Kovacek. "Unfortunately, we didn't take advantage of our opportunities in doubles play."
The duo of junior Kadi Ilves and sophomore Chanel Scudiero advanced in the doubles main draw against Youngstown State's Annina Brendel/Nehel Sahni, 8-7(3) before falling to Michigan State's Erin Faulkner/Athena Trouillot, 8-4. In singles consolation play, Scudiero defeated Eastern Michigan's Alejandra Barcelo, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-6, while Ilves fell to Eastern Michigan's Daphne Friedrichs, 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
The Redbirds' spring season will begin Jan. 25 against Illinois in Champaign. ISU will host the first tournament of the spring season Feb. 6 against Eastern Illinois at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois.
