WATERLOO, Iowa – Following a narrow 4-3 loss at Drake on Friday night, Illinois State (15-6, 4-2 MVC) bounced back in a big way on Saturday with a 7-0 sweep of the UNI Panthers (2-13, 0-4 MVC) at the Black Hawk Tennis Center in Waterloo to wrap up the final weekend road trip of the 2026 season.
ISU jumped out to an early lead by winning the doubles point, thanks to a sweep in all three doubles matches. A new No. 1 pairing of Silvia Pomarolli and Vittoria Benedetti earned a 6-2 win over UNI's Andjela Raznatovic and Lucia Schuknecht, while the No. 2 tandem of Nicole Iosio and Nuria Sanz rolled to a 6-2 victory over Yangjiaxin Li and Abbie Peterson. To complete the doubles sweep, the No. 3 duo of Emma Lindh and Lana Caculovic cruised to a 6-1 win over Andrea Noa Galin and Kayla Santosa.
The Redbirds also swept the singles matches against the Panthers, with Pomarolli picking up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Schuknecht at the No. 1 spot. Caculovic earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Li at the No. 2 spot and Benedetti defeated Galin at the No. 3 position by a final of 6-4, 7-6. On court No. 4, Iosio earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Peterson and Sanz also tallied a straight-set win at the No. 5 spot with matching set scores of 6-4. Lindh rounded out the complete sweep for ISU at No. 6, with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of UNI's Sedina Begic.
The Redbirds wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 19, at Bradley with first set for Noon CT in Peoria.
