DES MOINES, Iowa – Junior Kadi Ilves will play for the flight one singles championship Sunday, while sophomore Natalia Parchowska earned fifth place in flight six singles, as the Illinois State women's tennis team concluded day two at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships Saturday.
After advancing to the semifinals, Ilves defeated Drake's Mariel Ante, 6-3, 6-4, Saturday, and will compete for the championship in flight one singles versus Wichita State's Abby Stevens. Parchowska defeated Northern Iowa's Savanna Hunt, 6-0, 6-2, to secure fifth place in flight six singles. Meanwhile, Chanel Scudiero earned sixth place in flight four singles after falling to Southern Illinois' Ariadna Baza, 6-1, 6-1, in the fifth place match.
In doubles play, the duo of Ilves and Scudiero will play for fifth place in flight one Sunday after beating Missouri State's Ekaterina Donetskova and Ledis Molina, 8-1. Parchowska and Cricket Geldermann will also play for fifth place in flight three after defeating Evansville's Andjela Brguljan and Kennedy Craig, 8-3. In flight two doubles, Valerija Gercar and Donna Haycock fell to Missouri State's Abbey Belote and Mackenzie Rozell, 8-6.
The MVC Individual Championships conclude Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m., at Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
