ST. LOUIS – After opening the 2014-15 season Friday, the Illinois State women's tennis team wraps up play in the round robin Saint Louis Billiken Classic Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
Included among ISU's highlights Friday was newcomer Chanel Scudiero's first win as a Redbird. Scudiero swept SIUE's Haley Ilcewicz, 6-0, 6-0. First-year ISU head coach Maja Kovacek also made her debut.
"It was a tough day out there for us. We battled some nerves at times, and we didn't execute in key moments," Kovacek said. "We did play better as the day went on, and we were able to make some adjustments. Tomorrow, we will look to build on that and finish the tournament on a positive note."

Illinois State concludes the singles round robin tournament Saturday at 11 a.m. against Missouri-St. Louis. The Redbirds then wrap up the doubles round robin tournament Saturday at 1:30 p.m. versus Missouri-St. Louis, followed by a 2:15 p.m. match against SIUE.
