EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Illinois State women's tennis team concluded its season after suffering a defeat by No. 33 Wichita State, 4-0, Friday morning at the Missouri Valley Conference Team Championships.
In doubles competition, the Redbirds fell to the top-seeded Shockers in all three flights. The duo of junior Kadi Ilves and freshman Donna Haycock lost to WSU's Julia Schiller and Gabriela Porubin, 8-3, in No. 1 doubles. Meanwhile, in No. 2 doubles, freshman Catherine Shulman and sophomore Chanel Scudiero suffered a loss to WSU's Aleks Trifunovik and Luca Pump, 8-2, while the duo of Natalia Parchowska and freshman Valerija Gercar were defeated by WSU's Lucia Kovalova and Abby Stevens, 8-2, in No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Haycock fell to WSU's Pedrazzi, 6,-0, 6-1, in No. 2 singles, while Scudiero suffered a loss by WSU's Stevens, 6-2, 6-2, in No. 3 singles. Likewise, WSU's Pump claimed victory over Parchowska in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Flights one, three and five went unfinished.
The Redbirds, who featured four newcomers amongst the six players eligible to play in 2014-15, concluded the spring season with a 2-19 overall record.
