"It's just about getting more matches in and getting ourselves in match shape. We just need to improve our early starts to matches and moving better on the court."
The Redbirds will be among 61 players and eight teams including: Michigan State, Valaparaiso, UW-Green Bay, Iowa, Cleveland, and Xavier. This weekend's tournament will be set up as a flighted draw, with eight flights of singles and four flights of doubles.
Last season, the Redbirds posted a 5-7 singles mark at the Western Michigan Vredvelt Invitational.
The matches are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at Sorensen Courts and will conclude Saturday evening.
Illinois State will try to build off of last week's season opening success at the SIUE Fall Invitational where the Redbirds went 11-8 in singles and 6-3 in doubles.
