NORMAL, Ill. – Sophomore Illinois State women's tennis player, Valerija Gercar, was recently ranked in singles by the International Tennis Association (ITA).
Ranked No.114 by the ITA, Gercar won a Missouri Valley Conference individual title during the fall, earning a singles championship in two out of ISU's three fall tournaments.
Gercar won the Flight 7 singles title at the MVC Individual Championships in Springfield, Illinois, going 3-0 through three days of play (Oct. 2-4).
She also won the C Flight Singles Championship at the Bradley Invitational (Sept. 25-27) where she went 3-0 for the weekend.
Gercar joins an elite group of ranked women's tennis players throughout Illinois State's history, including recent Illinois State Athletics Percy Hall of Fame inductee, Liina Suurvarik.
