NORMAL, Ill. – The Redbirds are set to head to Louisville, Kentucky to compete at the Louisville Fall Invitational, which will take place Oct. 15-16. The tournament will be held at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, and play will begin at 9 a.m. both days.
The invitational will include teams from Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Campbellsville, Dayton, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, Michigan, Tennessee Tech, Wright State and Xavier.
"This should be a good weekend for the guys as any time we visit Louisville for their tournament, they always have good teams in town and plenty of matches for the guys," said head coach Mark Klysner.
ISU last competed at the Louisville invitational in 2013 where Dylan Steffens claimed his first title as a collegiate athlete after defeating each of his singles opponents on both days of the tournament.
Most recently, the Redbirds returned home from the ITA All-American Championships after three days of singles and doubles play. Steffens and Matias Chomali defeated their opponents in the pre-qualifying consolation bracket for singles.
"I am still playing around with doubles combinations, so we'll see how that goes," said Klysner, "But, the guys are collectively starting to play better singles each week."
