FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Junior Zach Burry continued his impressive performance for the Illinois State men's golf team in the final round of Colorado State's Ram Masters Invitational Tuesday, firing an even-par 70, which included four birdies, to earn him a 12th-place finish on the individual leaderboard with a final score of 3-over-par 213 (71-72-70) at the par-70, 7,218-yard Fort Collins Country Club.

The Redbirds finished in a tie for 13th-place, after shooting a 294 in the final round, improving from Monday's tally of 301 and finishing with an overall score of 886 (291-301-294). The host Rams won the 18-team event, aided by a 3-under-par 277 in the final round to finish with a 4-over-par 844 (284-283-277), seven strokes ahead of second-place Nevada.

Freshman David Perkins produced another solid outing in his second career collegiate tournament, carding a 5-over-par 75 in the final round and finishing with a 6-over-par 216 (70-71-75), good enough for a tie for 21st place.

Sophomore Trent Wallace finished the final 18 holes with a 3-over-par 73 (36-37), which included three birdies and improving four strokes from the previous round. He finished the tournament with a 223 (73-77-73).

Senior Austin Havens and freshman Trey Tussey ended the tournament in similar fashion. Havens concluded the final round with a 6-over-par 76 (36-40), finishing with an overall score of 236 (79-81-76), while Tussey shot a 7-over-par 77 (38-39) to finish with a 237 (77-83-77).

"Obviously the outcome was not what we were looking for after such a solid start at Wisconsin, but we again had bright spots at the top of the lineup with strong performances by Zach (Burry) and Dave (Perkins)," head coach Ray Kralis said. "We are only two tournaments into the season, but we have learned lessons that will help us going forward. We have tried a couple different combinations so far and haven't been able to get four scores consistently to this point. We need to show some depth in the next couple tournaments so we can finish off the fall with some momentum as a group and fewer questions going into the spring."

The Redbirds return to action at Akron's Firestone Invitational, Oct. 5-6, at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
