Redbird Swimming and Diving Travels to Meets at Cincinnati, Northwestern

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team will split up for this week's competition, with Redbird swimmers traveling to Cincinnati's Bearcat Midseason Invitational and Redbird divers heading to Northwestern's TYR Invitational.

The Bearcat Midseason Invitational will run Thursday through Saturday. The TYR Invitational will be a two-day event for ISU's divers, Friday and Saturday.

The Illinois State swimming and diving team will return to the water following a narrow 152-148 loss to Ball State Nov. 10, in which five Redbirds won individual events.

"We are very excited to be swimming at the Bearcat Invitational," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "This is the meet that we've been gearing up for all semester. It's going to be great to see how we perform, so that we can make the adjustments we need to get us ready for the second half of the season."

Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann is eager to see his team compete in the TYR Invitational.

"We are looking forward to this meet as a great chance to compete in a multi-day format meet," said Hoffmann. "This is meet is of great importance because we are a younger team, and it'll teach us how to prepare not only physically, but most importantly mentally, for a weekend of competition. This will set them up well for the final push towards MVCs."
