WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Illinois State women's golf team finished William & Mary's Intercollegiate Tuesday with its second-lowest three-round score of the season, as the Redbirds carded a 916 (300-309-307) at the par-72, 6,043-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort.

Illinois State shot a 307 in the final round and concluded the 22-team event in eighth place. Ball State won the tournament with a 900 (300-293-307), edging out runner-ups Delaware and the host Tribe by one stroke.

Freshman Paige Seiser and junior Kiley Walsh led the Redbirds, as the duo both produced season-low three-round scores. Seiser finished in a 10th-place tie on the individual leaderboard with a 9-over-par 225 (73-76-76) and shot a second-consecutive 4-over-par 76 (39-37). She finished with two birdies in the final round, with one coming on each side of the turn. Walsh tallied Illinois State's lowest score of the day, carding a 2-over-par 74 (37-37), which also consisted of two birdies, with one occurring on both sides. She finished in a tie for 13th place with a 226 (77-75-74).

Sophomore Caitlin Sims registered a 5-over-par 77 (38-39) over the final 18 holes to finish with a 232 (75-80-77). She continued the trend of tallying one birdie on both the front and the back in the final round.

Rounding out the scoring in the final round for the Redbirds was senior Maggie Ambrose, who shot an 80 (42-38). She converted three birdies, including two on the back nine when she bounced back with a 2-over-par 38, ending the event with a 238 (80-78-80).

Junior Abby Luchtenburg shot an 81 (38-43) in the final round and started the day off well with a 2-over-par 38 on the front nine. She did record one birdie on the back, but her score did not count towards the team's overall total for the final 18 holes. Luchtenburg manufactured a three-round score of 237 (75-81-81).

"Once we learn to close rounds out, this squad will be dangerous," head coach Darby Sligh said. "We worked extremely hard all three rounds and the last two we just couldn't finish it out how we wanted to. Paige (Seiser) finished in the top 10, and Kiley (Walsh) stepped up and led us today. It's great to see her hitting it well again. We are building in the right direction heading into the last part of the season."

Illinois State returns to action April 8-9 when it travels to Bloomington, Indiana, to compete at Indiana's IU Spring Invitational at the IU Golf Course.
