NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's and women's track and field teams travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, Friday and Saturday to compete in the Gibson Invitational, hosted by Indiana State.
The Gibson Invitational will feature teams from the Missouri Valley Conference and teams from the Ohio Valley Conference. The women's hammer throw and men's javelin throw are set to start Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT., followed by the men's hammer and women's javelin. Competition will begin at 11 a.m. CT with the women's pole vault, and track events will start at 12:15 p.m. CT with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
This week, D'Jenne Egharevba and Amanda McClain were named the Missouri Valley Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Redbird Invitational.
McClain had another spectacular performance in the women's long jump at the Redbird Invite over the weekend. McClain won the event with a personal-best mark at 6.20m (20-04.25), which is leading the Missouri Valley Conference. She also ran a leg in the winning 4x100-meter relay where the team posted a time of 46.53.
Egharevba had stellar performances the Redbird Invite, where she won the women's 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, running personal-best times. Egharevba won the 100-meter with a time of 11.58, which is leading the Missouri Valley Conference and tied for the No. 29 spot on the NCAA West qualifying list. She also won the 200-meter with a PR time of 23.87, which is also leading the Valley.
 Both men's and women's teams dominated the Redbird Invite, as they both won team titles. The women won with an impressive 252.5 points, while the men tallied a strong 186 points. ISU also combined a total of 15 event wins and 14 personal-best performances.
