ST. LOUIS – Four Illinois State men's tennis players – Andreas Boers, Urh Krajnc Domiter, Christoffer Greve and Dylan Steffens – earned spots on the 10-player 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team, the league office announced ahead of this weekend's MVC Team Tennis Championships.
Additionally, Egehan Sertkaya was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention Team. Illinois State's five scholar-athlete selections matched the program record established in 2016. The Redbird men's tennis squad earned a combined grade-point average (GPA) of 3.58 during the fall semester, which marked the highest GPA among Illinois State men's programs. Illinois State opens Missouri Valley Conference Team Tennis Championship quarterfinal play this Friday, April 28 at 12 p.m. versus Stony Brook at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts in Normal, Illinois. Admission to the MVC Team Tennis Championships is free.
