NORMAL, Ill. – The sounds and smells of tailgates, drumlines echoing from Hancock Stadium, and alumni groups and fans gathering in cities nationwide to showcase pride in their newest Illinois State Redbirds gear signals that college football season has returned.
On Friday, September 1, the 13th-annual College Colors Day will culminate months of fans' budding optimism and excitement for the new season, as students, alumni, and fans all come together as one to cheer on their school all season long.
Through Facebook Frames, Snapchat filters, and Twitter hashtags, fans can show off their school spirit and pride to tell the world how great Illinois State fans are. This year's theme, "United We Fan," highlights the emotional connection fans have not only to their school, but also to fellow fans when they see each other wearing the same name and colors, no matter the location.
Beginning Tuesday, August 1, fans can visit CollegeColorsDay.com for 30 days of college gear giveaways and a chance to win prizes such as watches, tailgate games, hats, and apparel. Through the website, fans will also have a chance to register for the opportunity to win one of two all-expenses-paid trips to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Atlanta, Georgia. The tickets to the game will be provided by the College Football Playoff and Extra Yard for Teachers, the College Football Playoff's primary charity partner that empowers and honors the teachers that help student-athletes across the country realize their dream of attending college.
By sharing their own photos and stories across social media using UnitedWeFan and CollegeColors throughout the month of August, fans will have the chance to win brand new gear just by showing their school spirit. Starting in late August, fans will be able to add a custom school frame to their Facebook profile provided by the school's official athletic page.
