Walsh’s Fourth-Place Finish Leads Women’s Golf at Redbird Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. – Senior Kiley Walsh posted a top-five individual finish, as the Illinois State women's golf team finished the third and final round of the Redbird Invitational in fifth place Monday at the par-72, 6,035-yard Weibring Golf Club. The Redbirds shot a 314 in the final round, concluding the invitational with a three-round score of 931 (308-309-314).

Walsh finished her final round with a 2-over-par 74 (40-34), including a 2-under-par 34 on the back nine, and the tournament with a 6-over-par 222 (72-76-74).

Senior Abby Luchtenburg finished in the top 25 of the individual leaderboard, as she shot a 7-over-par 79 in her final round to finish with a 234 (74-81-79). Junior Caitlin Sims finished two strokes behind Luchtenburg with a 236 (81-74-81), after posting an 81 in the final round. Sophomore Morgan Savage shot an 80 in the final round and finished with a 242 (84-78-80).

A pair of Redbird freshmen made their first collegiate tournament debut. Maria Jose Rojas finished with a 239 (82-79-82), after shooting an 82 in the final round. Tatum King finished the tournament with a 253 (81-89-83), after shooting an 83 over the final 18 holes.

Sophomore Paige Seiser led the individuals who competed for the Redbirds with an 82 in the final round to finish at 239 (80-74-82). Junior Leia Atas finished her third round with a solid 5-over-par 77, concluding her tournament at 239 (81-81-77) as well.

Topping the leaderboard was Northern Illinois, which accumulated a final score of 914 (306-309-299). The Huskies edged Bradley by one stroke. The Braves' Ally Scaccia, who held the number one spot on the individual leaderboard through all three rounds, finished with medalist honors with a 1-under-par 215 (71-71-73). IUPUI's Aneta Abrahamova finished five strokes behind Scaccia with a 4-over-par 220 (79-70-71).
