NORMAL, Ill. – The 2018-19 Illinois State men's and women's basketball programs performed and showed off each of their respective squads at Hoopfest on Friday night on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.
The season tipoff event – held in conjunction with Illinois State Homecoming – started with the crowning of ISU's Homecoming King and Queen.
Both basketball programs were then introduced to the crowd, followed by a three-point contest. Keyshawn Evans earned bragging rights as he was victorious in the championship round against Mary Crompton.
The men's team followed with a dunk-off between Phil Fayne and Matt Chastain. Fayne was ultimately deemed as the champion, voted by the 2018 Percy Hall of Fame inductees.
During a red team vs. black team women's scrimmage, Paige Saylor and Simone Goods each netted a game-high eight points in the unscored team event.
In the men's scrimmage, William Tinsley scored a team-high nine points for the red team, while Phil Fayne scored nine for the gray team.
