Seiser’s Tenth Place Finish Leads Women’s Golf at Kansas City Intercollegiate

Raymore, Mo. – Sophomore Paige Sesier posted a top-10 finish, as the Illinois State women's golf team finished the second and final round of UMKC's Kansas City Intercollegiate in fifth place Tuesday at the par-72, 5,927-yard Creekmore Country Club Course. The Redbirds shot a 307 in the final round, concluding the event with a two-round score of 621 (314-307).

"We hung in there today," said head coach Darby Sligh. "We came out on fire and were one-under through eight holes as a team. We leaked some oil coming in but overall we are playing much better at the right time. We had three student-athletes finish in the top-15 with Paige leading us. It's fun to see everyone managing their games better towards the end of this spring.  We have a quick turnaround to the MVC's and need to feed off of the momentum here."

Seiser completed her final round with a 4-over-par 76 (38-38), posting two consistent nines at 2-over-par, and the tournament at 9-over-par 153 (77-76).

Sophomore Morgan Savage and junior Caitlin Sims concluded the tournament in a tie for 14th place. Savage carded a 4-over-par 76 (37-39) in the final round, accumulating a tournament score of 155 (79-76). The sophomore was able to produce two birdies on her 1-over-par front nine. Savage's tie for 14th place broke her collegiate-low finish. Sims finished her final round with a 5-over-par 77 (37-40), and concluded the event at 155 (78-77).

Senior Kiley Walsh finished in the top 30 on the individual leaderboard, as she shot a 7-over-par 79 (41-38) in her final round to finish with a 159 (80-79). Freshman Maria Jose Rojas finished two strokes behind Sims with a 161 (83-78), after posting a 6-over-par 78 (37-41) in the final round.

Senior Abby Luchtenburg who competed as an individual for the Redbirds, carded an 83 (41-42) in final round, concluding the event at 168 (85-83).
