Women’s Golf Starts Kansas City Intercollegiate Monday in Missouri

Normal, Ill. – The Illinois State women's golf team travels to Raymore, Missouri, to compete in UMKC's Kansas City Intercollegiate on Apr. 9-10, at the par-72, 5,927-yard Creekmore Country Club Course.

Representing the Redbirds are senior Kiley Walsh, junior Caitlin Sims, sophomore Morgan Savage, freshman Maria Jose Rojas and sophomore Paige Seiser. Senior Abby Luchtenburg will be competing as an individual.

Format: The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday (Apr. 9) and a final 18 holes on Tuesday (Apr. 10). 

Last Time Out

Illinois State concluded play at William & Mary's Kingsmill Intercollegiate Mar. 20 at the par-72, 6,025-yard Kingsmill Resort River Course. The Redbirds finished with a three-round total of 932 (308-304-320).

Leading the way for the Redbirds scoring five was Sims, who tied for seventh place with a three-round score of 228 (77-72-79).  Walsh fired Tuesday's low round for the Redbirds with a 5-over-par 77. Walsh's three-round total of 230 (77-76-77) earned her a tie for 10th place. Seiser shot an 81 in the final round, she finished the event at 239 (78-80-81). Luchtenburg carded a three-round total of 244 (76-85-83), shooting an 83 in the final round. Savage produced a three-round total of 249 (78-76-95).

"We are looking forward to getting back out and competing this weekend," said head coach Darby Sligh. "The weather has made things difficult for us in preparation, but this squad is extremely resilient and eager. This course will be a great tune-up heading into the Missouri Valley Championships next week at Sand Creek Station. I'm looking for consistency and grit above all else this weekend."
