NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State (0-0-1) is set to host the Eastern Michigan Eagles (0-1-0) at Adelaide Street Field Sunday afternoon. This is the ninth meeting all-time between these teams, including matchups in each of the last three seasons. The Redbirds lead the all-time series, 4-2-2.

Eastern Michigan – What You Need to Know
The Eagles dropped their season opener to Purdue, 3-0, Friday night in West Lafayette, Indiana. Purdue led almost from kickoff, when freshman Skylurr Patrick scored 39 seconds into the match. The Boilermakers outshot the Eagles, 21-10, including 8-3 shots on goal, and Eastern Michigan's senior goalkeeper Kaylin Williams went the full 90 minutes with five saves on the night.
Eastern Michigan finished out the 2017 season 7-12-1 overall, and 4-7-0 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Their lone draw of the season was with Illinois State in a 1-1 overtime battle.
Last Time Out
The Illinois State women's soccer team played CSUN Thursday night at Adelaide Street field, with the match going into double-overtime and ending in a 2-2 draw. Freshman Logan Ziegler and senior Angel Krell tallied the first goals of the season for the Redbirds, scoring in the 67th and 79th minute respectively. Junior goalkeeper Haley Smith made nine saves in net to help limit the Matadors' offense.
