Swimming & Diving Releases Full 2018-19 Schedule

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head swimming coach Scott Cameron announced on Monday the Redbirds' loaded slate for the 2018-19 season.

The schedule features four home meets, beginning with the annual Red and White Intrasquad Meet, which will be held at Horton Pool on Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. Illinois State will host Omaha on Nov. 3 at 12 p.m., before closing the home slate with Davenport and Evansville on Jan. 12 and Jan. 25, respectively. The program's seven seniors will be recognized at the Redbirds' 5 p.m. dual with the Purple Aces.

Illinois State will jump into a conference dual to start the regular season on Oct. 12 at Indiana State, before facing off against Southern Illinois and Illinois in Carbondale on Oct. 20. The Redbirds will stay in the Bloomington-Normal area on Oct. 26 to face Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis in the cross-town double-dual.

The three-day TYR Invite highlights the Redbirds' busiest weekend of the season, Nov. 16-18, before they compete in their lone meet in the month of December – the Indiana State Relays – hosted by the Sycamores on Dec. 1. After hosting Davenport on Jan. 12 to begin the New Year, Illinois State will be challenged with Iowa State and UNI on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19, respectively.

The Redbird swimmers will close the 2018-19 regular season with a dual at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, on Jan. 26, while the divers are set to close the difficult slate at the UIC Dive Invite in Chicago.

"We are very excited about our schedule for the upcoming season," Cameron commented. "We have some challenging meets and some tough weekends ahead of us, but I believe that they will have us better prepared for the MVC Championships this winter. We will also be racing some new teams this year, and it is exciting to see our team compete against some very good competition."

The 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships are set to be held at a neutral site for the third-straight season, this time at the Mizzou Recreation Center in Columbia, Missouri, Feb. 20-23.
