Kolaric Falls in Day Two of the Oracle ITA Masters

MALIBU, Calif. -  Senior Igor Kolaric came up short against Mercer's Olivier Stuart, 6-1, 6-3, Friday, Sept. 21 in the men's consolation round of the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, California.

"Tough day today as Igor did not play his best tennis, but what an experience it's been for him to play against some of the best in the country, and at one of the finest facilities in the nation," Head coach Mark Klysner said.  "I know Igor is disappointed in his play, but I could not be more proud of the kid for getting to this point and getting to play a tournament that most kids will never have the opportunity to. We will take some fond memories from the event and draw in this experience throughout the season."

In the matchup, Stuart took a four game lead over Kolaric in the first set. Kolaric battled back in game five leaving the set at 4-1. Stuart defeated Kolaric in the next two games, earning him a set one win, 6-1.

In the second set, Stuart took the first point, but Kolaric bounced back in the second game, evening the set at 1-1. Stuart took the next four, giving him a 5-1 lead. Kolaric chipped away at the lead winning two straight for a 5-3 score, but Stuart pushed ahead to win 6-3.

Kolaric will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma Saturday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Sept. 30 to compete in the ITA All-American Championships.
