LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Redbirds closed the second of two rounds of the Little Rock Intercollegiate in sixth place overall and in the mix of the top of the competition.
Illinois State is four-over par after the first 36 holes, as the team went even in the first round before shooting four over in the second round. Leading the field is Eastern Michigan, who is only three strokes ahead of the Redbird, keeping ISU among the top of the field.
Leading the squad once again is senior David Perkins, who is in a four-way tie for third place in the individual field, three strokes under par (71-70). Perkins extends his season streak under par to 11 rounds, every round the Redbirds have played this season.
Junior Joseph Hodgson started the tournament slow, shooting one-over in the first round before picking up momentum in the second round by carding two birdies and one of the teams two eagles. He is tied for ninth individually one-under par.
Junior Daniel Anfield had a strong start for the Redbirds, sinking nothing but three birdies in the first round of the tournament. Anfield made one-under in his first nine holes of the second round and finished the round six-over par (78).
Senior Joel Durnford is six strokes over par after 36 holes. Durnford shot three-over in both rounds (75-75). Freshman Felix van Dijk shot an eagle in the front nine in the second round, bringing Illinois State's eagle total to two, which leads the field.
The Redbirds finish the tournament tomorrow with a 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
