NORMAL, Ill. – Each year a deserving Illinois State gymnastics student-athlete is selected to receive the Rob & Nancy Northrip Endowed Scholarship at Illinois State University, and this year junior Cameron Topp was chosen for this honor by Redbird head coach Bob Conkling.
"Cammie is a great choice for the Northrip Endowed Scholarship," Conkling said. "She is the current conference champion on the floor exercise and a good student. She is respected by the team as a hard worker and always puts the team first. Cammie is a true student-athlete and a great representative for the ISU Gymnastics program."
2019-20 Rob & Nancy Northrip Endowed Scholarship Recipient: Cameron Topp / Jr. / Martin, Michigan
Topp competed in three meets on vault, five on beam, and 11 on floor for the Redbirds in 2019 … she posted a career best 9.600 on vault against Alaska and later set a career high with a 9.9000 on floor at the Midwest Independent Conference Championship to earn First-Team MIC honors and the individual conference championship on the event.Â
The Northrip Scholarship was established in 2009 by Nancy and Rob Northrip for female student-athletes majoring in education, with a preference for female gymnasts. Nancy lettered in gymnastics for the Redbirds and Rob was a Redbird cheerleader. The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior female student-athlete.
