Men’s Golf Sign Two for the 2020-21 Season

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head men's golf coach Ray Kralis has announced that two student athletes: Will Troy and Jack Paeglow, have signed to compete for the Redbirds starting in the fall of 2020.

"I am very excited to add two great players to the squad who are both high character guys with strong desire and work ethic," said Kralis.

Jack Paeglow from DeKalb, Ill. is a top ranked Illinois Player in the class of 2020 according to the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. Paeglow is a qualifier for the Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines. Some notable tournaments include a medalist at the 2019 IHSA 3A Secitional Championship and third at the 2019 IHSA 3A State Championship.

"Jack is coming off a tremendous year that shows how complete his game is and proves he is ready for the DI (Division I) level," Kralis said. "He gained invaluable experience competing at the Junior World at Torrey Pines and in the Illinois Open, and top 10 finishes in the Illinois State Amateur and the AJGA Circle K Jr. Championship with another strong showing in the Illinois State Junior Am give you a glimpse of how he stacks up against strong competition. I look for him to have an impact right away."

The other newly signed Redbird is Will Troy from Naperville, Ill. Troy is ranked in the top eight among the Illinois class of 2020 according to National Junior Golf Scoreboard and the American Junior Golf  Association. He was a medalist at the 2019 IHSA 3A Regional Championship and placed second at the 3A Sectional Championship.

"Will has excelled in both golf and hockey, and as he focuses solely on golf, I expect his game to flourish," said Kralis. "He is a proven winner and has the ability to overpower a golf course with his tremendous clubhead speed. He gained valuable national experience and tasted success with a top 10 finish at the AJGA Steward Cink Championship, and he has plenty of confidence earned through his dominant play during the IHSA post season when it matters most. I believe he will become a special player at Illinois State."

The Redbirds begin the 2020 spring season on Feb. 1 in Placida, Fla. at the Tinervin Cup Exhibition. The first tournament of the spring will be on Feb. 10 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala.
