ST. LOUIS – For the third time this season, Illinois State junior Caroline Lecoeur has been selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Lecoeur turned in a pair of NCAA Diving Zone qualifying performances, two top five finishes and a school record at the Purdue Invite this weekend. The junior finished fourth overall in a field of 12 in the 3-meter dive on Thursday with a score of 293.34, accounting for 15 of ISU's 21 total point to open the event.
The Lyons, France, native returned to the boards on Friday and boasted a season-best score of 301.60 in the 1-meter dive to finish third overall out of 16 competitors. As ISU's only competitor in the platform diving event, Lecoeur finished 12th overall, posting a school record score of 177.10 on Saturday, finishing with 36 total team points for the Redbirds.
Lecoeur and the Redbirds are set to open the 2020 calendar year in tri-meet action, when Illinois State travels to Fort Myers, Florida, to compete against Florida Gulf Coast, Liberty and Tulane on Jan. 4.
