Redbirds Primed for Road Trip to Saint Louis Sunday

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's basketball team will put their five-game win streak on the line this weekend, as the Redbirds hit the road to take on Saint Louis Sunday afternoon. Tip-off at Chaifetz Arena is set for 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
Saint Louis fell 83-58 at Missouri on Thursday evening, despite a 19-point performance from Ciaja Harbison. Myriama Smith Traore grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for SLU, helping the Billikens out-rebound the Tigers, 38-30, on the night. Myia Clark also posted double figures in the losing effort, finishing with 12 points, two rebounds and an assist.

SLU holds a 6-3 record on the season, with two of their three losses credited to SEC teams (Missouri and Vanderbilt). Head coach Lisa Stone is in her eighth season with the Billikens and has a 128-105 record at Saint Louis.

ILLINOIS STATE VS. SAINT LOUIS
The 'Birds and the Billikens met for the first-time last season in a 72-67 win for Illinois State at Redbird Arena, in front of a crowd of 3,500 for Education Day. Former Redbird Simone Goods posted a career-high 30 points on 9-of-19 (47.4 percent) shooting. TeTe Maggett also added 19 points, four rebounds and two steals for the Redbirds.

MID-MAJOR TOP 25
Illinois State is receiving votes for the second consecutive week in the latest update of College Insider's Mid-Major Top 25. The poll, which is in its 10th year of existence, is made up of teams outside the Power Five conferences. Loyola Chicago and Bradley are also receiving votes, with three other MVC teams ranked in the poll: Missouri State (2nd), Drake (6th) and UNI (20th). Seven opponents on the Redbirds' 2019-20 schedule are either ranked or receiving votes.

LAST TIME OUT
The Illinois State women's basketball team captured their fifth-straight win on Wednesday evening, defeating Western Illinois, 78-65, at Redbird Arena.

The 'Birds were led by senior TeTe Maggett who recorded a career-high 33 points while adding seven rebounds and five assists. Fellow senior, Lexi Wallen, nearly posted a double-double, piling on 22 points and nine rebounds of her own for her second 20+ point scoring effort in as many games. Redshirt freshman Mary Crompton pulled down a career-high eight rebounds and junior Juliunn Redmond also had a career-best six assists.
